The beautiful ex-wife of former President Donald J. Trump died at the age of 73. The cause of her death was not immediately known, but her death was confirmed by her son Donald Jr. on his Truth Social account. Ivana is survived by three adult children, including Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump. In addition, there are several grandchildren.
Ivana, 73, died on Thursday at her Manhattan apartment. She was found unconscious near a staircase. The police are still investigating whether she fell. The New York City Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death. Her death leaves many questions. The former President's first wife's death has shocked the nation, and many have called for an investigation.
Ivana was born on February 20, 1949, in Zlin, Czechoslovakia. She was a competitive skier. Ivana immigrated to Canada during the early 1970s and worked as a ski instructor. In 1976, she met Donald Trump and married him in New York City. She had been married to the billionaire for nearly 30 years, from 1977 to 1992.
After their divorce, Ivana became increasingly involved in business ventures, launching clothing and perfume lines. But she stayed friendly and in touch with the former President.
She reportedly turned down a post as ambassador to the Czech Republic when he was President. She told CBS Sunday Morning, "I was just offered to be the American ambassador to the Czech Republic -- and Donald told me. He said, 'Ivana, if you want it, I give it to you,'" Trump said in the interview. "But I like my freedom. I like to do what I want to do; go wherever I want to go with whomever I want to go. And I can afford my lifestyle."
They had three children together, Eric, Ivanka, and Donald Jr. She was a successful interior designer and was responsible for the interior design of some of the Trump Organization's properties. Ivana was also a vice president of interior design for the Plaza Hotel. After their marriage, she continued to work in the design and decor field, serving as the President's assistant and vice president of interior design.
Ivana worked in the real estate industry alongside her husband and was a key player in developing the Trump Tower and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort. She also ran a historic New York City hotel, the Plaza Hotel, and the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.
She is survived by her three adult children and several grandchildren. Her death has left a large family in mourning.
Her daughter Ivanka tweeted: "Heartbroken by the passing of my mother. Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate, and wickedly funny. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will miss her forever and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always."
Donald Trump wrote: "I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman who led a great and inspirational life."
"Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!" he concluded.
